27th ETSF Workshop on Electronic Excitations
Shining light on matter through interdisciplinary theoretical approaches

3-7 June 2024, Marseille, France

Shining light on matter through interdisciplinary theoretical approaches

With the goal of exchanging experiences and ideas around the development and application of advanced electronic structure methods, the European Theoretical Spectroscopy Facility (ETSF) is organizing its 27th workshop edition in Marseille, France, in June 2024. Having as a core subject many-body ab-initio theories, the workshop will gather both experimentalists and theoreticians working in the field of spectroscopy in material science and will foster discussions on fundamental challenges in applied materials research.

The workshop will be hosted by Aix Marseille University (AMU), whose development strategy is dedicated to interdisciplinary research. AMU will welcome international experts in physics, quantum chemistry, material science, and code development, with the aim of fostering fruitful exchanges between participants and the local community.

The workshop will serve as an open forum to discuss various emerging topics like ultrafast phenomena via non-equilibrium dynamics, time-resolved vibrational and electronic spectroscopy at the attosecond scale, and charge and energy transfer in solids, hetero- and nano-structures, including the role of point and extended defects and thermal effects. The development and application of the most advanced methods in the description of electronic excitations, such as multiscale and embedding methods as well as theoretical and numerical developments, will enrich the discussion.

This edition will be organized in collaboration with Aix Marseille University and CNRS. As soon as more details become available, they will be provided here.
